A Better Start Director Wayne Cutfield and the Paediatric Society President Nicola Austin will be joined by Dr Barbara Cormack, Dr Hiran Thabrew and Professor Rachael Taylor to talk about nutrition for small babies, as well as managing adolescent anorexia nervosa and early childhood obesity.

This webinar is free and open to anyone, but will be of particular interest to health professionals. This webinar is hosted on Zoom; Registration is essential.

About the presenters

DR BARBARA CORMACK works clinically as a neonatal specialist dietitian and is Clinical Lead for the team of the paediatric dietitians at Starship Child Health at Auckland City Hospital. She is currently conducting research on whether better early nutrition in preterm babies improves growth and neurodevelopment.

DR HIRAN THABREW is a child psychologist and paediatrician at Starship Children’s Hospital, a senior lecturer with the Department of Psychological Medicine, and Director of the Werry Centre for Infant, Child and Adolescent Mental Health. His research interests include eating disorders, and technology and eHealth interventions to improve mental health of children & young people.

PROFESSOR RACHAEL TAYLOR leads the Healthy Weight theme for A Better Start. Her areas of interest include determining how body weight is affected by sleep, diet and physical activity, particularly in childhood. Her current research includes work focused on sleep, feeding, play and prevention of overweight in infants.
