See what A Better Start National Science Challenge researchers have been up to this year, in our Year in Review
Some of the highlights include:
- Joining forces with Cure Kids to create a $4M contestable fund, seeking proposals for high quality translational research to improve child health & wellbeing and early literacy
- Funding six major research projects across healthy weight, mental health and resilience, and successful learning themes
- $1M funding committed for a Pasifika-led research project
- Co-funding a $1.5M Lifecourse project looking at lifelong impact of chronic disease on NZ families
- Developed a series of popular webinars focused on child health, wellbeing and early learning
- Established projects in collaboration with multiple industry partners, including early childhood education centres, low decile schools, Whānau Āwhina Plunket and Māori health providers, iwi and Pasifika entities
- Commissioned by the Ministry of Health to undertake 11 evidence reviews to inform the WellChild Tamariki Ora (WCTO) Review. We remain involved in the next stage of the WCTO review with representation on the Ministry’s strategy group.
